Post Location
Our beautiful Post Home is located at 6444 Buffalo Road in Churchville, next to the Riga Town Hall.
In the 1950s, Gold Star Mother, Mary E. Noone, left money in her Will to build a permanent Post Home in Churchville
in memory of her son, Pvt Harvey C. Noone, who died while serving in the Army in France in one of the last battles
of WWI.
After securing the land, a Post Home was designed by and built under the direction of two members of the
Greatest Generation who served in WWII. The two Legionnaires, who both went on to serve as Post Commanders, were
Ronald Brew and Edgar E. Moore.
Before the building was built the American Legion in Churchville was known as American Legion Post # 954,
Churchville. Upon the completion of the Post Home, the American Legion in Churchville was renamed
the Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post # 954, Churchville.
For decades the Post Home has served as a defacto community center. The Legion Family conducts all
of its activities that support veterans and the community from this location. In addition, the Hall has
served as the venue for weddings, birthday and anniversary parties and has also been used by
a variety of other community groups for both events and for meeting space.
